Google’s Gemini AI is coming to Google TV

Google is bringing its advanced AI assistant, Gemini, to the living room. The company announced on Monday that Gemini is now coming to Google TV, marking a major expansion of the AI platform beyond smartphones and computers.
Once fully rolled out, Gemini will be available across more than 300 million active devices running Google TV or Android TV OS.
AI Meets the Big Screen
With Gemini on Google TV, viewers will be able to interact with their TV through natural, free-flowing conversations, making it easier to discover content, learn, and even multitask while watching.
For entertainment, Gemini can:
- Help groups with different tastes find a show or movie they’ll all enjoy.
- Summarize past seasons of a series so you can catch up quickly.
- Track down a title you can’t quite remember.
- Share reviews and ratings to help decide whether something’s worth watching.
But Gemini won’t be limited to media-related questions. Just like on mobile, the AI can answer general queries, brainstorm ideas, or assist with learning. For example, a parent might ask, “Explain why volcanoes erupt to my third grader” and get a simplified, age-appropriate explanation displayed right on the TV. Families could also use Gemini to plan trips, manage schedules, or even explore new skills together.
Coexisting With Google Assistant
Importantly, Google clarified that this update doesn’t replace the existing Google Assistant features. Traditional voice commands—like turning on lights, controlling volume, or checking the weather—will still work alongside Gemini.
Rollout Plans
The first devices to receive Gemini integration are the TCL QM9K series TVs, starting today. More devices will follow later this year, including:
- Google TV Streamer
- Walmart onn 4K Pro
- 2025 Hisense U7, U8, and UX models
- 2025 TCL QM7K, QM8K, and X11K models
Google says additional capabilities will be added over time as the experience evolves.
