OpenAI's Startup Fund Launches AI Health Coach
Sam Altman (OpenAI CEO) and Arianna Huffington (Thrive Global CEO) aim to address health challenges faced by over 130 million Americans living with chronic diseases.
Thrive AI Health, a new venture backed by the OpenAI Startup Fund and Thrive Global, aims to revolutionize personalized health coaching using generative AI. The company will develop an AI-powered coach focused on five key areas: connection, sleep, fitness, stress management, and nutrition. This tool is designed to aid in disease prevention and optimize treatment plans.
The AI coach will combine OpenAI's technology with Thrive Global's behavior change expertise, drawing on scientific research, user preferences, and medical data to provide tailored insights and recommendations.
DeCarlos Love, formerly of Google, will lead as CEO, bringing extensive experience in AI and health tech. The company has secured strategic partnerships with prominent medical institutions and will be advised on health equity issues by Dr. Gbenga Ogedegbe from NYU Langone.
Thrive AI Health aims to address the limitations of current AI-based health solutions by offering more personalized, proactive, and data-driven coaching. The goal is to improve health outcomes, reduce healthcare costs, and make a significant impact on chronic diseases globally.
This initiative aligns with the growing trend of using AI to support preventative care and behavior change in healthcare, joining other companies in the digital behavioral health space that are working to make mental and physical health support more accessible and effective.
