Tesla Cybertruck’s Sixth Recall This Year
Tesla has issued its sixth recall of the Cybertruck this year, affecting approximately 2,431 units manufactured between November 2023 and July 2024. The recall addresses a defect in the drive unit inverter's metal-oxide-semiconductor field-effect transistors (MOSFETs), which can lead to a sudden loss of propulsion without prior warning. Affected drivers may receive a visual alert on the center touchscreen instructing them to pull over.
Tesla plans to notify owners and commence replacing the faulty inverters starting December 9, 2024. The company is aware of five warranty claims related to this issue but reports no collisions or injuries to date.
This recall follows previous ones addressing issues such as delayed rear camera displays, faulty windshield wipers, loose trim, jammed accelerator pedals, and undersized warning light fonts. Despite these challenges, the Cybertruck has maintained strong sales since its release in late 2023.
Tesla is also under multiple investigations, particularly concerning its Autopilot and Full Self-Driving technologies. The most recent investigation focuses on Tesla vehicles using Full Self-Driving crashing due to reduced visibility.
Owners of affected Cybertrucks are advised to contact Tesla's customer service for further information and to schedule necessary repairs. Staying informed about vehicle recalls is crucial for ensuring safety and optimal vehicle performance.
