X’s Grok AI Chatbot: Now Open to All Users
Elon Musk's AI company, xAI, has expanded access to its Grok chatbot, making it available to all users on X, including those without Premium subscriptions. Non-subscribers can now interact with Grok, though with certain usage limitations. This move aims to increase user engagement and position Grok as a competitor to AI chatbots like OpenAI's ChatGPT.
Grok is designed to provide witty and humorous responses, distinguishing itself from other AI chatbots. It has access to real-time information from X, allowing it to offer up-to-date answers. Initially, Grok was available only to X Premium+ subscribers, but xAI has gradually expanded its availability.
In addition to broadening Grok's accessibility, xAI is reportedly planning to launch a standalone app for the chatbot, aiming to compete directly with platforms like ChatGPT. This app could provide users with more direct interaction capabilities beyond the X platform.
These developments come amid xAI's significant growth, including a recent $6 billion equity financing round. The funding is intended to enhance xAI's supercomputer facility in Memphis, Tennessee, and support the development of advanced AI models.
By making Grok more accessible, xAI aims to gather extensive user feedback to refine the chatbot's performance and better compete in the rapidly evolving AI industry.
